The Boathouse and Quest Frankston are offering an Escape & Indulge Package until August, including a nights stay in a one bedroom apartment with welcome pack of wine, robes and slippers and a 3 course meal at The Boathouse including a glass of sparkling. My man and I were lucky enough to experience this romantic package this week.
I checked in early to the Quest Frankston and was amazed at how spacious our room was. Although we were heading out for dinner we could have cooked up a storm with the fully equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, coffee machine and all the pots, pans and utensils you would need.
Whist waiting for my man to arrive, stuck in traffic from the city, I occupied myself watching some Foxtel, DVD's were also available to borrow at the front desk, and took a short walk across the road to the beach to watch the sunset.
Our spacious one bedroom apartment with the extra luxuries of a bottle of Mornington Peninsula Shiraz, robes and slippers included in the package
DINNER AT THE BOATHOUSE
Foxey's Sparkling and 'Earth and Sea' plate with Steamed Flinders mussles, Coffin Bay oysters kilpatrick, Seared Canadian scallops with sesame and soy, baby mozzarella, vegetable antipasti, marinated Australian bush olives and toasted bread
After a short walk across the road to the Boathouse we were welcomed with a glass of Foxey's Sparkling, chose our mains from a list of five dishes and shortly after our entree sharing platter arrived. Our favourite elements were definitely the scallops, mussels and baby mozzarella on the garlic pita bread.
Gippsland prime eye fillet on a parmesan croute with french mustard and cheddar melt, sautéed vegetables and shiraz jus
Seared kangaroo saltimbocca on sweet potato puree with roast autumnal vegetables and herb salad
Roast chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and basil on a zucchini and sweet corn risotto with crushed roma tomato sauce
Our gorgeous waitress, Alesha
Although last time at the Boathouse I enjoyed the kangaroo and steak we couldn't resist but order this again as the dishes were slightly different with an autumn seasonal feel to them. The kangaroo was beautifully tender and the steak cooked to perfection, once again. Although we didn't order it i captured a snap of the chicken dish, it looked amazing!!
Long island iced tea served in a teapot
Not included in the package but when we saw it on the cocktail menu we had to order a 'teapot'. Very refreshing and a little potent just the way we like it!
Chefs tasting dessert plate with goji berry and hazelnut slice, Crackerjack blod orange ice-cream, baklava, trifle, caramel fudge, apple and plum crumble and caramel truffles
The romantic touch of a heart of strawberry coulis was 'icing on the cake' after such a lovely dinner. The desserts were a little 'afternoon tea' for my liking, I usually prefer something sweeter for desert, but the Crackerjack blood orange ice cream and apple and plum crumble were my favourites on the plate. I have been assured that the platter is ever changing and will include some sweeter dessert items in the future for all you sweet tooth's out there!
A relaxing end to a lovely night
THE NEXT MORNING
Whilst my poor man had to get up extra early to make it to work I enjoyed a sleep in and decided to go for a walk along the beach. I got a little carried away and ended up walking 4.5 kilometres but it was such a beautiful morning I just couldn't stop!!
For the last two years Frankston Foreshore has been awarded the 'Victorian Clean Beach of the Year' and it really does show, the beach is well groomed and clean with a well maintained boardwalk, look outs with shade and facilities all the way along the foreshore.
There is so much to do around the Quest Frankston area, the Bayside shopping centre is only a 5 minute walk, no need to pay or fight for a parking spot, the start of the beachside boardwalk is only a 10 minute walk. There is an amazing playground for the kids and a couple of undercover BBQ areas. Only a short walk across the road is the Kananook creek with a walking trail where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll, some birdwatching, or feed the ducks from the bridge.
Before checking out I was shown the newly refurbished 'demo room' at Quest, a sneak peak of things to come. The room was gorgeous with a bold damask upholstery, coloured splash back and leather furniture it is very modern and chic. Televisions in the bedrooms is a new bonus to the rooms. The gardens are currently being redone and all rooms are looking to be done by the end of the year.
Thank you to the lovely staff at Quest Frankston for being so attentive and hospitable, and for an amazing night.
Until next time fellow foodies..
